Understanding how your child learns is the first step towards providing the right support.
I offer specialist dyslexia support and screening to help identify patterns of strength and difficulty and gain a clearer understanding of your child's individual learning needs.
This understanding can help inform appropriate next steps and ensure that support is carefully matched to the individual child.
What is dyslexia screening?
A dyslexia screening looks at a range of skills linked to literacy and learning, helping to identify patterns of strength and difficulty.
The screening process can provide a clearer picture of how your child learns and highlight areas that may benefit from additional support. The findings are brought together in a written screening report, with recommendations for appropriate next steps.
Screening is not the same as a diagnostic assessment. It can indicate whether a child shows characteristics associated with dyslexia, but it does not provide a formal diagnosis of dyslexia.

Your child will complete a range of activities designed to explore different aspects of literacy and learning.
After the screening
You'll receive a detailed written report explaining the findings, along with recommendations for appropriate support and next steps.
Could screening be helpful for my child?
Parents often consider dyslexia screening when they have noticed that some aspects of literacy or learning seem more difficult for their child than expected.
You may have noticed that your child:
✓ finds reading or spelling particularly difficult
✓ struggles to remember sequences, instructions or information
✓ needs much longer to complete reading or written tasks
✓ finds it difficult to organise their ideas in writing
✓ makes persistent errors despite practice and support
✓ can explain ideas verbally but finds it harder to show what they know in writing
These difficulties do not necessarily mean that a child has dyslexia. Screening can help to explore the pattern behind them and provide useful information about where support may be needed.

Specialist support for literacy and learning
Every learner is different, so support begins with understanding their individual strengths and areas of difficulty.
I use structured, targeted teaching to support areas such as reading, spelling, writing, memory, sequencing and organisation. Strategies and activities are selected according to the needs of the individual learner rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme.
Sessions may include multi-sensory activities, opportunities to revisit and overlearn key skills, and strategies that children use more independently in their wider learning.
Support is reviewed regularly so that teaching can be adapted as the learner progresses.
Specialist training in dyslexia
I hold Dyslexia Academy Specialist Practice Tutor status, following accredited training in dyslexia awareness, screening and targeted learning support.
My training has developed my understanding of how dyslexia can affect learning, how to use screening and observation to explore a child's individual learning profile, and how to plan targeted educational support in response to their needs.
My role is educational rather than diagnostic. I can provide dyslexia screening and specialist learning support, but I do not diagnose dyslexia. Where further assessment or professional input may be helpful, I will discuss this with families and recommend appropriate next steps.
